Kill For Eden

www.killforeden.com

Kill For Eden are a London-based hard rock band formed by guitarist Dave Garfield and vocalist Lyla D'Souza in 2009. Lyla is a rock/soul singer songwriter who has performed in the UK, Europe and Australia.

Dave has lived and worked in Amsterdam and Cologne, recorded for EMI Germany and BMG Germany and has gigged and recorded all over Europe playing many festivals and TV shows and supported major artists on tour such as Joe Cocker, Rammstein and Die Arzte.

On Bass is Mike McGuinness, Andrea Basiola is on Guitar and Wally Miroshnikov is on Drums.

Building from classic foundations in the form of Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, Kill For Eden take their influences from the The Cult’s solid riffs, Blondie’s instant melody and Garbage‘s contemporary mix of pop hooks and rebel attitude.

The band have been gigging around England and released an EP 'Kerosene' in Spring 2011 which achieved airplay on Alex Bakers Unsigned show on Kerrang! Radio, TotalRock.com and also on national radio stations across Scandinavia and Spain.
Kill For Eden have just finished recording their debut album and will release it on May 6th 2013 supported by a full UK and European Press & Radio promotion campaign.

“This debut from the female-fronted hard rock band is remarkably assured. The London based band’s secret weapon is Australian Lyla D’Souza, who has a big, strapping voice and she stamps her authority on the disc. She’s backed by a solid band who mix classic rock influences and a modern urgency. Lead-off track “Kerosene” has the requisite combustible energy to make you sit up and take notice..." "...(the album is) pretty consistent with a good batting average when it comes to appealing hooks and riffs. “Untouchables” carries on the good work that “Kerosene” started and “Living On Mars” also grabs you by the lapels. “The Evil That Men Do” should be their next single as it rolls round your head after a few listens.." "..With a good balance between hard rock muscle and commercial hooks, “Kill For Eden” are a temptation worth giving into if you like gutsy female-fronted rock."”
Duncan Jamieson - Powerplay

"..their debut album is packed with blistering riffs, hook laden choruses, great vocals and a strong collection of tunes..""Kill For Eden tread a similar path to the excellent Saint Jude, albeit with more aggression. 'Kerosene’ is a prime example, a hard rocking opener with a great hook. D’Souza’s voice is the major selling point for me, taking an already fine set of tracks and lifting them with a clear, powerful delivery. Whether it’s the fiery foot tapper ‘Untouchables’ or the brilliant power ballad ‘Fate Insists’ with a sublime soaring chorus, she nails everything. There are great songs throughout the record, with notable cuts including ‘Beige’, ‘Living On Mars’, and the Ned Kelly inspired ‘Ned’. There’s an hours worth of material here and very little that isn’t worth your time." ".. This one is a keeper – one of the strongest debut albums I’ve heard in a long time. Don’t take my word for it – check them out on this issues cover CD. Marvellou
James Gaden - Fireworks

"Kill For Eden’s biggest asset is undoubtedly lead singer Lyla D’Souza who has a belting voice with a technical and emotional range to match her smouldering looks. D’Souza adds depth to all the material here and confidently tackles top end metal, power rock, intimate soul and all shades in between..." This is a very competent, enjoyable and attractive album that brims with potential. It’s a grower too. The most immediate track is ‘Kerosene’ with a driving riff, soaring chorus and rumbling bass. ‘Over and Over’ is also built for the airwaves. Don’t be fooled though. There is some heavier and more challenging material here too. ‘Living On Mars’ features a skuzzy, gutteral riff before the chorus lifts the track and a change of pace injects a shot of adrenaline. ‘Ned’ chucks out a mean growl and weaves a narrative about Australia’s most famous outlaw. "...this is a power-packed and confident debut. Good things are surely just around the corner for this lot."
Dave Atkinson - Get Ready To Rock!
